We still have holiday!
Next Sunday will be Spring Festival. In our home town, we will prepare many kinds of delicious food, have a thorough cleaning and visit friends and relatives. But in New York, I can also feel the festival atmosphere. The Chinese supermarkets are having promotions. Even in the university, there are Chinese knots hung in the lift.
Americans have many public holidays. Last time while talking with a friend working in UN, he complained in UN, they could not holiday at spring festival, since China is only one country. It could not compete with the other small countries that share the same festival, because they represented many countries. But today I heard at spring festival some companies, esp. those with many Chinese employees would have two days off on the last day of the old year and the first day of the new year. It is good for Chinese here to keep their tradition.
Still have not got a plan for the “big dinner” on Sunday evening. The landlord invites us to join them. Not sure whether the other friends would have gathering. Just wait and see. Our place is too small to host the party.
It’s rare to have Spring Festival in another country, where people do celebrate it. Which makes it even more special. Happy Spring Festival! Happy New Year!
hehe, then how do you celebrate Spring Festival?
